The Hart Cardigan: A Legacy in Merino
A Note From Our Creative Director & Founder, Margie Woods
For over 20 years, Viktoria & Woods has been defining the modern Australian wardrobe, since 2004. Rooted in a singular, elevated vision: A commitment to effortless elegance and the enduring prestige of natural fibers.
Our story began with a definitive moment in Australian design, the introduction of the first of its kind merino wool cardigan. Originated by founder Margie Woods and presented to Melbourne’s premium boutiques, the original silhouette challenged ephemeral trends of the Australian fashion landscape, asserting that true luxury resides in details, superior fabrication and intentional design.
The Hart Cardigan is a masterclass in understated luxury. Designed in Australia and meticulously crafted in Melbourne, it represents the evolution of a signature brand aesthetic evolution over 20 years. The construction is purposefully minimalist, featuring a relaxed, slightly cropped silhouette and soft drop shoulders. Every detail is considered, from the functional button placket to exceptional fabrication.
Spun from premium RWS certified superfine merino wool, the knit possesses an exquisite handle and inherent technical superiority. As a fibre of unparalleled breathability, it offers a trans-seasonal versatility, engineered for longevity moving across seasons, occasions and climates.
A foundational icon, The Hart Merino Cardigan is more than an essential; it is an investment in the permanence of Australian craftsmanship. It remains the definitive piece of the V&W collection, a piece destined to be cherished for all seasons to come.
The Details
The Hart is defined by its meticulous architecture. Circular knitted for a seamless, superior drape, it features a classic round neckline and a functional button placket adorned with our bespoke logo hardware. The silhouette is intentionally slouchy, offering a modern ease that is expertly balanced by refined ribbing at the hem and cuffs.
The Fibre
Merino Wool has incredible natural self cleaning and antibacterial properties to remove odours adding to it's longevity. Where possible spot clean, otherwise cold hand wash with an approved wool detergent & dry flat in shade. Machine washing or using harsh detergents can cause damage to the delicate fibres of merino wool. Make sure to store your knitwear folded to keep its shape to keep your forever piece and nuture it's longevity.
